Benefits of Breast Augmentation After Weight Loss

Breast augmentation offers several benefits that can greatly improve your quality of life:

  • Restores Volume and Shape: Breast augmentation helps restore the volume and shape lost after significant weight loss. It can lead to a more proportionate and aesthetically pleasing body silhouette.
  • Boosts Confidence: Many patients feel a big boost in self-esteem after breast augmentation. Feeling more comfortable and satisfied with your appearance can positively impact your overall confidence and body image.
  • Enhances Clothing Fit: After weight loss, you might find that certain clothes no longer fit as well as they used to. Breast augmentation can help improve the fit of your clothing. It allows you to wear a wider range of styles and feel more confident in your wardrobe choices.
  • Improves Symmetry: Weight loss can sometimes lead to asymmetry in the breasts. Augmentation can correct imbalances and provide a more symmetrical appearance, enhancing the overall harmony of your body.

What to Expect During the Procedure

During your breast augmentation, your surgeon will use implants to add volume and breast shapes

You can choose between saline or silicone implants based on your preference and your surgeon’s recommendations. The procedure is usually done under anesthesia and takes one to two hours.

Is Breast Augmentation Right for You?

Breast augmentation after weight loss can be a great option if you’re looking to restore volume and shape to your breasts. Having realistic expectations and discussing your goals with a qualified surgeon is important.

They will help you understand what’s achievable and ensure the procedure aligns with your needs.

How Long Do Breast Implants Last? Understanding Longevity and Replacement

Breast implants are a clearchoice for many individuals in Houston, TX, looking to enhance their appearance with breast augmentation or reconstruct their breasts following surgery. Understanding the longevity of these medical devices and the need for potential replacement is crucial for anyone considering them. In this post, we’ll explore the lifespan of breast implants, signs that they may need replacement, and what to expect from the process.

Body By Ravi Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics, founded by Dr. Ravi Somayazula, stands out for its dedication to patient care and exceptional results. Dr. Ravi is board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Society of Plastic Surgery. He brings an unwavering commitment to his craft. Every patient feels special and well-cared for because the entire team at Body By Ravi shares this commitment.

The Lifespan of Breast Implants

Breast implants are not lifetime devices. On average, they last between 10 and 20 years. However, this doesn’t mean they will fail or need replacement exactly at that mark. The longevity of breast implants can be influenced by several factors.

  • The type of implant plays a significant role, with silicone implants often lasting longer than saline ones.
  • Complications, such as ruptures can occur due to trauma or needle biopsies, which may necessitate replacement.
  • Proper post-operative care, including following your surgeon’s guidelines and attending regular check-ups, can help extend the life of your implants.

While certain factors don’t directly compromise the integrity of the implants, they can affect the aesthetic results. Weight fluctuations, pregnancy, the natural aging process, and individual breast anatomy can all alter the appearance of the breasts over time, potentially leading to the need for adjustments or replacements to maintain the desired look.

Signs Your Implants May Need Replacement

While breast implants can last many years, several signs may indicate it’s time for a replacement:

  • Changes in Appearance: Noticeable changes in the shape or size of your breasts could indicate a problem with the implants.
  • Pain or Discomfort: A medical professional should evaluate persistent pain or discomfort in the breast area.
  • Capsular Contracture: This is a condition where scar tissue forms around the implant, causing hardness and potential deformity.
  • Rupture or Leakage: Saline implants will visibly deflate when they rupture, while silicone implant ruptures are often detected through imaging tests like MRI or ultrasound.

The Replacement Process

If your implants need to be replaced, the procedure is typically straightforward. The process involves removing the old implants and inserting new ones, often during the same surgery. This surgery can also be an opportunity to change the size or type of implant if desired.

Preventive Measures and Regular Check-Ups

Regular check-ups with your plastic surgeon are essential for monitoring the condition of your breast implants. Imaging tests can help detect any issues early, and your surgeon can guide you when replacement may be necessary. Additionally, maintaining a healthy lifestyle and being mindful of significant weight changes can help prolong the cosmetic results of your surgery.

Find Out If You Need New Breast Implants in Houston, TX

Understanding the longevity of breast implants and the signs that they may need replacement is vital for anyone considering or already having undergone breast augmentation. While implants are typically long-lasting, they are not permanent and may require replacement at some point. Regular medical check-ups and being aware of any changes in your breasts can ensure that you enjoy the benefits of your implants for as long as possible.

How Much Does Breast Augmentation in Houston Cost?

Breast Augmentation surgery with breast implants continues to be a very popular surgery in Houston, one that is performed by our Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. Ravi Somayazula hundreds of times a year.  A very common question we get asked is what the cost of a Breast Augmentation is. Breast Augmentation Silicone vs Saline: How to Choose

Deciding which implant is best for your breast augmentation can be difficult. That’s why we’re sharing a few key differences between the two options, so you can decide which implant is right for you.

What Are The Differences Between Silicone and Saline?

Appearance

Silicone implants look and feel more natural than saline implants due to their teardrop shape and gel consistency. Saline implants are round and, although they do not look as natural as regular breasts, they are popular choices for women due to the striking physique they create.

Dr. Ravi uses only IDEAL IMPLANT® for saline implant procedures. The IDEAL IMPLANT is a hybrid of silicone and saline. It is an “ideal” choice if you want a breast lift and augmentation.

Potential Health Risks

Implants can rupture. An IDEAL IMPLANT consists of sterilized water and salt. Should it rupture, there are no known health risks. In fact, a 2017 survey reported that 91% of the women polled would prefer saline implants to rupture inside of their breasts instead of silicone implants.

Silicone implants have a gel interior. These implants aren’t known to cause health problems. However, if a silicone implant ruptures, you’re likely to feel breast pain and see breast thickening.

Repair Necessity

When a silicone implant ruptures, surgery is usually necessary. You will require surgery if the rupture causes breast deformity or thickening. However, surgery is not standard for a ruptured IDEAL IMPLANT. Instead, the solution safely absorbs into your body.

Which One Is Right for Me?

Are you still uncertain about which implant is best for you? Do not worry; it is normal to be indecisive. Speaking with an experienced plastic surgeon will help you realize whether silicone or the IDEAL IMPLANT is right for you. Calling Dr. Ravi Somayazula “experienced” would be an understatement. He is trained in plastic, cosmetic, and reconstructive surgery. This means he’s also educated about how your implants can affect other appearance-enhancing procedures down the road. Furthermore, he specializes in breast augmentation, so he’s best suited to help you choose an implant.

What Are the Most Common Costs Associated With a Breast Augmentation?

09/15/2022
Breast augmentation can improve the breasts’ size, shape, and symmetry. Consistently one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures, several different techniques, options, and approaches can influence its cost.

Dr. Ravi Somayazula, a board-certified plastic surgeon with more than a decade of experience, is committed to utilizing the safest, most advanced, and least traumatic breast augmentation techniques available. These include:

  • Keller Funnel® Implant Insertion. Breast implant insertion with the Keller Funnel allows for a “No-Touch Techniques” along with a much smaller incision versus a traditional technique. By using this specialized funnel, the implants never come in contact with the patient’s skin or the gloves of the surgeon. This not only decrease the risks of infection but also is the least traumatic insertion. There have also been studies that indicate the use of the Keller Funnel also minimizes the chances of capsular contracture, which is internal scarring.
  • Exparel® Non-Opioid Analgesic. Dr. Ravi injects Exparel, a local long-acting anesthetic, directly into breast tissue to decrease postoperative discomfort for up to 72 hours. The use of this has allowed our patients to reduce the need for narcotic pain medications following breast augmentation. Exparel® allows for a shorter recovery period as well, with many women able to return to work after three to four days

These advanced, patient-focused options will factor into the total cost of your breast augmentation procedure at Body by Ravi Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics. Additional charges associated with the procedure include:

  • Facility Fees. Dr. Ravi performs breast augmentation in our private, nationally accredited AAAASF surgical facility staffed with highly trained professionals, including specialized plastic surgery nurses, to help ensure patient safety
  • Board-Certified Anesthesiologists Fees. The anesthesiologist overseeing pain management is present throughout the procedure to further ensure patient comfort and safety

Breast Implant Placement

Dr. Ravi uses FDA-approved breast implants for all augmentation procedures. These can be inserted over or under the muscles in the chest, depending on factors, such as how much breast tissue is present, that are unique to the patient. Where implants are inserted can influence the length of surgery and may have a negligible impact on breast augmentation costs.

We offer both silicone and saline round breast implants to ensure optimal personalization. The types of breast implant selected will also have an impact on the total cost of your procedure.

Silicone implants that Dr. Ravi chooses to work with are the full line Allergan Natrelle Gel Implants. These include the responsive, soft touch and cohesive gel implants. Costs do vary with these. During your consultation specific measurements are taken by Dr. Ravi himself to determine size, projection and placement.

Dr. Ravi is a trusted and award-winning plastic surgeon who takes the time to discuss all options and provide detailed information about procedural costs to help ensure patients are making the best decisions for their needs. Breast Implant Revision: What Are Your Options?

02/20/2022

Breast implant revision is designed to address issues that may arise in the months or even years following breast augmentation. In some cases, these issues are aesthetic, such as asymmetrical results or dissatisfaction with the size, shape, or projection of the implants. Others are related to comfort, such as in cases where capsular contracture has occurred. While much less common, some implants may also require replacement due to developed imperfections like wrinkles and ripples, folds, and deflation. Five Procedures You Can Have as Part of Your Mommy Makeover

09/09/2021

Mommy makeover surgery is designed to address those areas most commonly impacted by pregnancy and nursing. Because pregnancy can have different effects on different women, it is important that each Mommy Makeover procedure be customized to meet the specific needs of the individual.  Also keep in mind that you do not have to have been pregnant or nursing to have a Mommy Makeover, any person who had more than one body area they are working on qualifies for a Mommy Makeover.

When you choose Body by Ravi Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics for your procedure, our board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Ravi Somayazula, will take time to understand your desires and fully assess your areas of concern before recommending which procedures will be most suitable for your needs.

Combining Procedures

While each mommy makeover surgery is customized, some procedures are more common than others. Five of the most common are:

  • Breast Augmentation. This procedure uses implants to restore volume to the breasts. Dr. Ravi also offers Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation for women who would prefer to avoid implants.
  • Breast Lift. This procedure addresses sagging breast tissue and nipple displacement, helping to restore a perky and ideally positioned breast mound. This can be performed with or without breast implants.
  • Liposuction. With liposuction, Dr. Ravi can remove stubborn deposits of fat from the thighs, hips, low back, abdomen, arms, and other areas holding weight from pregnancy. We offer the latest liposuction technique, including VASER liposuction to meet the specific needs of each individual
  • Abdominoplasty. Tummy tuck surgery is used to eliminate excess skin around the belly. It can also be used to trim the waist and reattach abdominal muscles that have become separated due to pregnancy
  • Arm Lift. Brachioplasty removes sagging skin and excess fat from the underside of the arm, helping to restore both form and comfort to the upper arms

In addition to these procedures, some Mommy Makeover surgeries can include other body procedures such as a Thigh Lift to remove excess skin from the upper legs, a Brazilian Buttock Lift to improve symmetry and restore volume in the buttocks, Labiaplasty for improved comfort in the vaginal area, and more.
