"Excess skin accumulates at the thighs mainly due to weight loss, but it can also occur naturally as skin sags with age and loss of collagen. Unfortunately, many who suffer from this feel forced to wear baggy, loose-fitting clothes because of embarrassment. A thigh lift can bring back the refined contour of the legs with precise removal and tightening of excess skin in this area."
- Dr. Ravi Somayazula

"I researched several surgeons. I knew I wanted the surgery but was really nervous of a doctor completing my vision. Dr. Ravi made sure I was informed and knowledgeable about the procedure and what to expect all the way. He took the time with me and did not just assume."

Who Is A Good Candidate For A Thigh Lift?
Healthy, non-smoking individuals at a stable body weight who maintain a healthy diet and exercise routine are ideal candidates for a thigh lift. A thigh lift is often performed for men and women who have lost a large amount of weight and are now left with large amounts of loose and sagging skin around their thighs. A thigh lift can also be performed to address a loss of skin elasticity common with aging.
All patients are seen approximately two weeks prior to surgery for their pre-operative appointment. During that visit, all surgical consents are signed, photos are taken, and a detailed informational packet is provided with specific instructions for before and after surgery. A complete list of “dos and don’ts” is also reviewed. Patients receive prescriptions for an antibiotic, as well as pain and anti-nausea medications. Be prepared to follow all recommended pre-surgery and post-surgery instructions closely to ensure your best possible results.
Dr. Ravi recommends stopping the use of aspirin and all other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (such as Ibuprofen) for at least one week before and after surgery to prevent excessive bruising. Herbs and supplements should also be stopped for at least one week prior to surgery as they can interrupt healing. It is recommended that all patients stop smoking for at least four weeks before surgery and four weeks after surgery to minimize healing complications.
How is a Thigh Lift procedure performed?
Thigh Lift surgery at Body by Ravi Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics is performed in our private, on-site, accredited surgical center. Here your safety and comfort can be safeguarded by our caring and professional staff, helping to ensure the most pleasing experience.
To begin the procedure, an incision will need to be placed most likely on the inner part of the thighs. The location of the incision(s) as well as length will be planned depending on your specific needs and amount of loose skin and fat present. Each Thigh Lift is customized to help produce your desired outcomes. Once the incision has been placed, Dr. Ravi will remove excess skin and tighten up that area with sutures. Liposuction will likely be done in order to remove fat and contour the area as well. Once completed, the recovery process can begin.
How long does a Thigh Lift procedure take?
Thigh Lift surgery can take two or more hours, depending on the extent of work being done and other factors unique to each patient’s anatomy. During your time in our care, we will discuss what you can expect during your procedure, how long your procedure may take, and steps to take before and after to help ensure the most rewarding experience.
Does a Thigh Lift require anesthesia?
At Body by Ravi Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics, all of our Thigh Lift procedures are performed under general anesthesia. This helps ensure your continual comfort and safety throughout the procedure.
How long after a Thigh Lift procedure will I see my results?
It can take six or more months for the results of your Thigh Lift to finalize, but you should begin seeing results much sooner than that.
Following Thigh Lift surgery, you will experience some redness, brushing and swelling. We will provide you with instructions on how to best deal with these and other issues during your recovery period. Once swelling has subsided – typically around week three or four – results will begin to be noticeable.
How long will my Thigh Lift results last?
Thigh Lift removes stubborn fat and excess skin from the upper leg. So long as proper care is taken after your procedure, these results will be permanent.
Maintaining your Thigh Lift results will require dedication to a healthy lifestyle. We will cover ways you can maintain and even enhance your results following Thigh Lift surgery during your time in our care.
Thigh Lift Recovery
You may experience some swelling and bruising immediately after the surgery. Bandages or dressings will be applied to the incisions, as well as a compression garment to help with swelling. Additionally, some small tubes may be placed underneath the skin temporarily, in case of blood or fluid leakage.
It will take some time to fully recover from your thigh lift. Most men and women will need to take about two-three weeks off from work as their body heals. All normal activities and exercise can resume with Dr. Somayazula’s guidance at about six weeks after surgery.
As the skin of your thighs continues to heal, and bruising and swelling gradually fade, your legs will begin to look and feel slimmer, smoother, and younger. Dr. Somayazula’s patients are often thrilled with the results of their thigh lift and can’t wait to try on their favorite clothes and purchase new wardrobes.
What will my scarring look like after a Thigh Lift procedure?
While all incisions leave a scar, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Ravi takes every possible care to prevent highly noticeable scarring.
Incisions are hidden as much as possible in the natural creases of the body and will be most visible in the months following your procedure. Paying attention to our pre and postoperative instructions, including incision care, will help reduce your risks of visible incisions after you have healed. We would be happy to discuss this in greater detail as we help you plan for your procedure.
