Breast Augmentation Recovery
Getting Back to Normal After Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation surgery is an outpatient cosmetic procedure that lasts approximately one hour and is performed under general anesthesia only at a credentialed surgical facility with the assistance of a Board Certified Anesthesiologist.
You will return home on the same day of your surgery with a responsible adult who will stay with you for 24 hours immediately following surgery. Dr. Ravi Somayazula places a special pain medication (Exparel®) around the implants and at the incision sites, which typically decreases your amount of pain for the first three days.
You should expect to be walk immediately after surgery, and perform basic everyday activities one day after surgery. The recovery period is generally less than one week, but every patient does recover differently. No strenuous activity is advised for 3-6 weeks depending upon if the implant is above or below the muscle.
